FIESTAS PATRIAS EN LOS ANGELES 2015

Buenas....

Ya hace un tiempito no escribia en mi pagina de blog. Y, por esto culpo a Facebook (jajaja), ya que es mucho mas facil e instantaneo publicar en mi pagina Rincon Panameño - Los Angeles.

Pero con las festividades de independencia que se aproximan, crei apropiado informarles de las diversas actividades que se van a estar dando en Los Angeles!

Ahora solo para clarificar, todos sabemos que nuestro mes de la patria es Noviembre.  Pero en Los Angeles, por razones ajenas a nuestro control, festejamos el mes de la patria en Octubre.

Las fiestas empiezan este viernes, 23 de Octubre y culminan el domingo, 25 de Octubre. Aqui estan los detalles:

"Panama Independence Day Kick Off" con bailes culturales, comida y musica.

Panamanian Independence Day Parade, con la participacion especial de Roberto "Manos de Piedra" Duran, Benemerito Cuerpo de Bomberos de Panama, Zona Regional 2 de Colon, 1st Panamanian Drum & Bugle Corps of New York. [Por cierto, el dia 24 de Octubre fue proclamado por la Ciudad de Los Angeles como el dia oficial de Roberto "Manos de Piedra" Duran!]

Happy 2013! Hope your year is going amazingly well. 

First and foremost, please forgive me for taking so long to write.  So much has been happening in the past months. Here is a summary:

(1)  Panama will be represented at the Rose Parade 2014 by Banda Jose Daniel Crespo of Chitre, Herrera. Yay, super excited and proud. Here is a little taste as to what to expect on January 1, 2014.

(2)  If you are living abroad and would like to be part of the Presidential Election 2014, guess what? You can! Please go to the Tribunal Electoral website at www.rere.pa to register no later  han April 23, 2013. Or, if you are having difficulties registering online, please contact your local Panamanian Consulate.

(3)  Calling all salsa dancers, this event is for you! Meñique, a salsa singer from Panama will be performing at The Granada in Alhambra, CA on Friday, April 19^th.  See link below for more details and ticket information. See you there!

Ballet Folklorico Viva Panama!

Han visitado la pagina de vivapanama.org ultimamente? Se las recomiendo! En esta pagina podran encontrar presentaciones del Ballet Folklórico Viva Panama en Los Angeles, ademas de otros eventos.

Por ejemplo, si andas buscando algo que hacer este fin de semana (Sabado/Domingo, Septiembre 29 y Septiembre 30), porque no apoyar a la Organización Viva Panama y su Ballet Folklórico en su presentación en el evento Baja Splash en el Aquarium of the Pacific, en Long Beach? El grupo se estara presentando a las 4:00pm.

Ademas de disfrutar y apoyar a la Organización, tambien tendran la oportunidad de disfrutar del acuario y de otras presentaciones de bailes folklóricos de nuestros paises vecinos en Latinoamerica!

Octubre 4, 2012 +++ IMPORTANTE: La presentacion del Ballet Folklorico en la Junta Hispana el 7 de Octubre ha sido cancelada. Disculpamos la molestia. ++++ Pero si no tienes tiempo este fin de semana, no hay problema, el Ballet Folklórico tambien se estara presentando en la Junta Hispana, el Domingo 7 de Octubre en el Parque Whittier Narrows, en el Area B de Eventos Especiales. Hola amigos,

Saben quien es Cesar Barria? Cesar es el primer nadador con discapacidad en Latinonamerica y la primera persona Centroamericana en cruzar nadando el Estrecho de Gribaltar. Su reto lo logro el 21 de Septiembre de 2008. Pero lo mas interesante es que Cesar es de Panama!

Pero mucho mas interesante es que el 26 de Septiembre estara tomando otro reto al tratar de nadar los canales de Santa Barbara, CA.

Do you know who Cesar Barria is? Cesar is the first swimmer with a disability in Latin America and the first person in Central America to swim Gibraltar Stretch. He accomplished this challenge on September 21, 2008. But the most important fact is that he is from Panama!

But even more interesting is that on September 26, 2012, he will be taking a new challenge when he tries to swim the Santa Barbara channels.

Panama Independence Day Weekend [Fin de Semana de la Independencia de Panamá]

Hola amigos, 

Celebremos la Independencia de Panamá en Los Angeles a lo grande este año!!

Aquí les va la información, marquen su calendarios....

Sábado, Octubre 27

9:00am Desfile en la ciudad de Los Angeles - con las bandas: Megabanda (directo de Panama), New York Band, Panamanian Marching Band of California y mucho mas....El desfile empezará en la intersección de las calles 12th y Broadway, recorrera la calle Broadway y terminara en la interseccion de las calles 5th y Olive. 

Tambien, si quieres disfrutar de comida Panameña despues del desfile (aproximadamente despues de las 12pm), entonces te sugiero estos lugares para deleitar el paladar con frituras y otras comidas Panameñas:

1.  La casa de la Sra. Emilda "Titi" Caballero, localizada en 4220 S. Van Buren Place, Los Angeles, CA 90037.

2. Ora's Kitchen, en un salon localizado en 12563 Crenshaw Blvd., Hawthorne, CA 90250. En este local tambien tendran musica y pista para bailar.

Miss Panamerican International 2012!! [Srita Panamericana Internacional 2012!]

Good night everyone!

Guess what?! Panama is going to be part of Miss Panamerican International 2012!! We are being represented by Miss Priscilla Walker (who by the way happens to be the niece of a friend). I had the brief (and very brief) pleasure to meet Priscilla at Gala Night on Saturday.  And all I have to say that the little bit that I got to interact with her, she appeared to be a humble, confident and beautiful young lady.

The finals for Miss Panamerican International 2012 are this Saturday, June 30th at 7pm, at the Crowne Plaza Commerce Casino, located at 6131 E. Telegraph Rd., Commerce, CA 90040. The price per ticket is $65.00. This ticket price includes dinner.

Hola a todos...

Mi nombre is Liuska Rincon. Soy Panameña y vivo en el area de Los Angeles. Llevo viviendo en Los Angeles ya muchos años, y durante ese tiempo he tratado de siempre conectar con mi gente Panameña en diferente eventos, pero por alguna razon u otra, algunas veces no me he enterado de eventos hasta despues que han ocurrido. Un poquito tarde, lo se! O, quizas si me han comunicado pero cuando estoy en el evento, noto que el evento carece de asistencia. Por esta razon, decidi crear una pagina para mantenerlos informados de diferentes actividades en el area, y quizas de esta forma podamos estar mas unidos y apoyar a Panama.

Por medio de esta pagina, me comprometo a informarles no solo de eventos que involucren a Panama en el area de Los Angeles, pero tambien de noticias relacionadas con nuestra hermosa patria lo mas que pueda y tambien otras notas sobre la comunidad latina en Los Angeles y mucho, mucho mas.

Hello everyone...

My name is Liuska Rincon. I am Panamanian and currently live in Los Angeles. I have been living in the Los Angeles area for many years, and during this time I have tried to always stay connected to Panamanians in different events, but for some reason or another, there have been times when I have not been aware of (Panamanian) events until after they have occurred. A bit too late, I know! Or perhaps, I have been informed but when I attend, I notice that the event lacks attendance.  For this reason, I have decided to create this blog to keep you informed of various events happening in the area, and maybe this way we can be more united and support Panama.

Thus, through this medium, I promised to inform you not only of events related to Panama in the area but also of news related to our beautiful country as much as I can, and other news about the Latino community in Los Angeles, and much, much more.
